Where to stay in Santorini
Yupeee! We are going to Santorini! The breathtaking views, tasty cuisine and fine weather await us! But, let me see, do you know where to stay in Santorini? Bokking.com and its counterparts do not make the things easier, so one may be totally lost among the myriads of offers. For there are more than 700 hotels in Santorini! Well, that’s true and that is why I’m sharing my knowledge with you. Hello, my name is Alexander Hadji, I’m a photographer in Santorini and know absolutely everything about the best island in the World. Below follows some information on different areas in Santorini.
Oia, Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigly
Let’s start with the hotels in the very heart of classic Santorini: Oia, Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigly. The key difference between them is the famous Caldera View. Some hotels have it, the other don’t. The former are quite pricey, but staying there is a great experience. Imagine yourself in an outdoor but warm jacuzzi enjoying champaign and observing the sea beneath. A dream, is not it? The latter are definitely cheaper, though may be located just a few meters further. But anyway, staying in those hotels you will be in the center of Santorini life.
Perissa, Perivolos, Kamari
The second popular group of towns located in Santorini beaches area. I mean Perissa, Perivolos, Kamari and the west coast of the island. There are no Caldera views, but one can enjoy nice beaches with lovely cafes. The place is great for big groups and families. The hotels here are affordable and are close to the actual sea (not just to a view :)) It’s the best choice for the families, as it’s much more fun for the kids to play in the waves, than to walk up-n-down the steps observing distant ships. There are a lot more taverns and cafes than in the center of the island and the prices are lower.
In the middle of… anywhere
The rest of Santorini hotels are located in the literal middle of the island. Those are mostly for a budget stay, though some may have a pool. If you need a quiet and affordable hotel, take a look at those in Karterados, Pyrgos, Emborio, Vurvulos and the other towns scattered over the island.
In addition, there are some other first-class hotels with neither view nor beach, but with nice pools and neat lawns. You can also find private villas and traditional houses, even campings in Santorini. Wrapping all the info on Where to stay in Santorini, I must say, that the island offers different places to stay, cheap and pricey, posh and casual, so anyone can find what fit’s them best.
